Frontier Airlines Adds 10 New Destinations at Long Island MacArthur Airport

Less than two months after Frontier Airlines announced inaugural service to MacArthur Airport with one daily nonstop to Orlando, local government and business leaders will gather again to celebrate Frontier Airlines, ISP’s 4th airline.

Today, Frontier Airlines’ Senior Director, Scott Fisher, will join Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, MacArthur Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken, members of the Islip Town Board and elected representatives, to announce service to 10 new cities from Long Island MacArthur Airport.

Frontier will begin booking all 10 destinations immediately with introductory fares, launching five of the cities this fall, and five more next spring.

Frontier will begin flying nonstop to these five cities from ISP October 5, 2017:
• Miami (MIA) once daily, increasing to twice daily October 10 • Tampa  (TPA) once daily • West Palm Beach (PBI) once daily • New Orleans (MSY) Monday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday • Fort Myers (RSW) once daily
Starting spring 2018 (details to come), Frontier will begin nonstop service to:
• Atlanta (ATL) • Charlotte (CLT) • Chicago (ORD)
• Detroit (DTW) • Minneapolis / St. Paul (MSP)
“This service is exactly what our community has been asking for,” said Angie Carpenter, Islip Town Supervisor. “It’s an amazing win for the people of Long Island. This announcement for the autumn slate of flights equates to roughly $4 million in revenue for MacArthur Airport. We are thrilled with this list of cities. I always knew we had a great story to tell about MacArthur Airport,” she added.
Earlier this year, MacArthur Airport launched a marketing campaign and professionalized its business model. As part of that effort, the airport reached out to airlines with information on the ISP marketplace.
“We put together the data to show our wish-list of unserved markets, and we made it clear to airlines that we would work hard to bring that service to our community,” explains MacArthur Airport Commission, Shelley LaRose-Arken. “Frontier recognized the opportunity and moved quickly to serve six of our Top 10 unserved markets,” she adds.
According to LaRose-Arken, the mix of both leisure and business destinations is also important, as is the route map that dramatically widens choices for ISP passengers. “Vacation destinations in Florida are important and we love providing that service,” explains LaRose-Arken. “However, our business travelers have been underserved at MacArthur for a decade. We will be working hard to win the loyalty of every traveler,” she adds.
LaRose-Arken says the community will play an important role in getting the word out on these new destinations. She hopes Long Island residents will share the news on social media, and take notice of the marketing messages.
“For this service to be successful and sustainable we need to make it clear… If you love this airport you need to use this airport,” says LaRose-Arken. “We are prepared to fulfill your expectations with an excellent customer experience if you travel from MacArthur,” she adds.
Frontier Airlines also shares that commitment to customer service at ISP and systemwide.
“We realize that MacArthur Airport is a more convenient option for many New Yorkers, providing an easy-to-use great customer experience. It will save our passengers time. ISP is a great match for Frontier,” explains Scott Fisher, Senior Director for Frontier Airlines. “We are grateful to the community for showing us such support. The response to our Orlando announcement was incredible, and we can’t wait to begin bookings for these new cities,” Fisher adds.
Kevin Law, President of the Long Island Association, added “The growth of Long Island MacArthur Airport will benefit our economy and the region’s business community, and thus I commend Supervisor Carpenter for partnering with Frontier Airlines to expand the travel options available to Long Islanders.”
To help customers get to know Frontier, the airline has created a special website landing page to make bookings easy.
