LIBAA held its 7th Annual Golf Outing in partnership once again, with the LI Chapter of PAMA.  This year’s event was held on Wednesday, May 26th, at the Rock Hill Country Club located in Manorville, NY. The weather yielded a successful day for the 142 eager golfers.  The day was filled with lots of laughs, great food, prizes, and golfing.  It gave everyone a chance to catch up with old friends and customers and generate new relationships as well.

The tournament raised funds for LIBAA, PAMA, and the Aerospace Education Corporation.  AEC is a not-for-profit organization which promotes aviation education and is dedicated to reaching out to young people and educating them about the various career opportunities available in the aviation industry.

The arrival of the United States Navy Blue Angels precision flight team to Republic Airport, East Farmingdale, New York, between May 27th and May 30th will allow media an unprecedented opportunity to view their F-18 Hornets and C-130 support aircraft on the ramp outside of the airport terminal of Route 110. However, stringent security regulations will mandate that only accredited media will be permitted on the ramp to be afforded an unobstructed view of the aircraft during static display, pre-flight and taxiing out to the runways for takeoff.

Just in time for the Memorial Day rush of helicopter traffic from New York City to the East End, U.S. Senator Charles Schumer has announced that the federal government will impose its first ever mandatory regulations to control helicopter noise on Long Island. The Federal Aviation Administration plans to announce the new regulations on Monday, and the public will have 30 days to comment on the new rules. Mr. Schumer and other government officials from the federal to the local level convinced helicopter companies to adopt voluntary flight altitudes of 2,500 feet and to establish a flying route over the Long Island Sound in 2007, but complaints of noise in residential neighborhoods remained high.
